I do not like the quote, as it is implying that small influences (flies) are always restricted by laws but large influences (wasps) can just break them without punishment.

Think, wasps are not punished for going through webs.

Its an ok quote for a speech, but its to easy to turn in a debate...

I don't think quotes really ever become a strong factor in a debate. Quotes are just good ways to ease into your argument and also give a clue as to what you stand up in. You have a value contention and probably three contentions to support. Don't throw a quote out there that is going to open you up for argument. Give a strong, obvious quote. Vague quotes just make you have to work more.

I agree. Why give your opponent a gun to shoot you with?...

vague quotes are pointless and serve no purpose except to allow your opponet to have something to throw at you when they have nothing else to attack.

One misconception here is that quotes do anything for you. its not extemp and i vote against quotes unless used in evidence card form. all it does is kill time and makes you look stupid. like really, once in a while a judge might put "good quote" on your ballot, but you look like an idiot, and i have yet to see someone at a tournament in semis use one. it does not good. not its not relevant, and its vagueness does no good.
